Wood Floor Fitting

Hardwood flooring is a great option for your Swindon property. From the simplest of utensils and sculptures to entire homes constructed out of it, hardwood flooring. And even though furniture, doors and window frames can be turned into standouts at any home with a good wooden finish, nothing will shine as much as a lovely wood flooring in your Swindon property. This can mean solid wood or engineered wood flooring, in as many ranges and styles as there is wood, from the most rustic and colourful, to the smoothest and finest, including oak, maple and ash. Nothing can quite compare to the feel of quality that a real wood flooring can bring to a home.

After choosing the correct type of wood flooring for your Swindon home – the one that matches the style, warmth and feel of your décor – you must take the flooring maintenance into account. Keep calm, though, since maintaining wood flooring is relatively painless. It is obviously fundamental to keep good care of it for it to look as beautiful as it can. Not only that, but good maintenance will extend its lifetime, enhance its performance and, of course, protect your investment.

Hardwood flooring must be cleaned daily with routine sweeps, dust mopping, and vacuuming so as to remove the dust and dirt that accumulates normally in any Swindon home. Spills and stains should be cleaned as soon as possible using mostly dry or barely damp cloths. Using wet or steam mops is not advised since this can be damaging to the hardwood finish after some time. A local Swindon professional can also provide guidance on the best type of cleaner to use on your wooden flooring, which should be applied every once in a while as well.

Of course nothing lasts forever, that is why even well-applied finishes will inevitably start to lose their shine and start looking dull. This is to be expected, that is why wood flooring owners will have to bear in mind that their floors will need to apply periodical – every few years –coats of wood finish.

A Swindon home that features a good wooden floor will look great, whereas a home that features a well taken care of wooden floor will undoubtedly stand out over the rest. Evidently, keeping after wood is not the same as vinyl or laminate flooring. However, the finished product cannot be compared either. When looking to maintain wood flooring in Swindon, never doubt about asking for professional advice.

What is engineered wood flooring?

Real wood flooring brings an unmistakable feel of quality to any home. Engineered real wood flooring comes in an extraordinary range of looks and finishes, ranging from smooth to rustic, and colours including oak, maple and ash. Its grain and texture bring a natural warmth to any interior, from bedroom to living room, kitchen to the hallway. Offering both contemporary and traditional designs and a wide range of colour choices, finishes and unique features, we are confident that our beautifully crafted wood flooring range will bring style and elegance to all of your personal spaces.

How durable is engineered wood flooring?

An engineered hardwood floor has a very durable, long-lasting finish. This means that the floor can go for years without needing to be refinished. It also means that you don’t have to worry about things like scratches or dents in the surface of the flooring, the way that you might with softer woods.

What are the advantages of engineered wood flooring?

Engineered wood floors are very easy to clean as they do not accumulate dirt, dust, or debris.  Along with an elegant, high-end look, wood floors offer the warmth, beauty, and value, which never goes out of style.  Our wood floors are manufactured using sustainable sources and finished to the highest standards that can last for generations. Able to stand up to active workspaces and heavy foot traffic, quality wood floors are tough, hard-wearing, and have long term durability.   These floors are a healthy choice for interior environments as they have no fibres, grout lines, or embossing that can trap dust, pollen, particles. They are the best choice of flooring with allergy sufferers and contribute to healthier indoor air quality.

Is engineered wood flooring, better than solid wood?

Due to its construction, engineered hardwood is much more stable than solid wood. Engineered wood is made up of layers, which have been heated up and tightly compressed together, which leads to a stronger and more durable floor. These compressed layers run perpendicular to each other, which means that there is less expansion and contraction, which allows for a snugger fit.

Is engineered wood flooring better than laminate?

Laminate flooring tends to make more noise than wooden floors due to its hard surface and lightweight, it can also feel a little hollow underfoot compared to real wood flooring and tends to transmit a little more noise. Engineered wood flooring consists of layers of solid wood compressed together. Therefore it is more weighty, has a more robust surface and tends to be quieter than laminate.

Laminate flooring is better than engineered wood in terms of impact resistance, durability and scratch resistance.

Both laminate and wood flooring are easy to clean products, although wood requires some maintenance. For laminate, regular vacuuming and mopping with a damp cloth along will suffice. An engineered floor needs some care to preserve its beauty. Lacquered wood flooring only requires standard cleaning, whereas oiled wood flooring needs to be treated regularly with the manufacturer’s cleaning products and maintenance oil.
